I woke up early today in Puerto Rico. I think I watched too many Netflix Narco shows over the past few days, so I was sleeping with one eye open.
Anyways, I decided to do what any normal person would do to put themselves to sleep…. Stock research!
I revisited three stocks that I have tracked for years that I now want to track more closely.
HVAC / Construction
Telecom (wireless and 5 g solutions)
Defense (power solutions)
I like tracking cheap, boring stocks that might be close to experiencing catalysts that could lead to expansions in valuation multiples.
I then challenge myself to write a really brief paragraphs or two, capturing the essence of the story, in case I want to do a deep dive in the future.
Lots of these stocks are trading near book value or cash value per share,
This is actually one of things I do on a regular basis to build a pipeline of potential stocks to add to our Microcap Quality Index (MSMqi).
It’s actually how Cliff Note #114 that we published on Friday was born. It was a stock that I had followed for years, selling below book, that is now chasing a major growth catalyst.
The nice thing about these set-ups is that your downside is limited, since they are trading near book or cash per share.
Two of the three stocks I wrote catalyst notes on this morning fit that bucket. I structured the notes to be tiny bit longer to provide a little more color. See the 3 stocks below:
